What’s our ethos? That there are no closed doors, no ‘one way’ to do things and nothing is beyond anyone’s potential. Many BigChangers have grown with the business, and many unique paths have been carved over the years. There are some great stories within the company. If there’s a time and a place to share a few of them, it’s with you now.
I started at BigChange as an apprentice after leaving college, forgoing university and becoming managing director of the business.
I have over 10 years experience in the telematics industry. Previous to this role at BigChange, I was a key member of the management team at Masternaut.

Working at BigChange has been a fantastic career choice, constantly improving and looking for new ways to give our customers the best possible system means we are adopting the latest technology and working practices. There’s a new challenge around every corner and never a dull day.
Most of our developers work remotely but we still feel like a close-knit team and keep in touch to help one another out all the time. Our efforts and results are recognised by the other team members and management alike which makes it really rewarding, especially when you see the results of your work creating positive feedback from customers and other BigChange employees. Everyone gets a say in how we should tackle technical challenges and gets a chance to inﬂuence the design of the software. I think the open and accessible nature of the company culture has been one of its keys to success.
We started with a pretty simple web application, a database and a couple of servers and have grown the system to something that now runs over several data centres on 30 plus servers with the potential to be even bigger – the same is true for both the company and my career, I’ve gone from developer to senior dev to deputy CTO as the company has gone from just a handful of employees to 100+ and there’s no sign of slowing down yet
